If an employer closes on a regularly scheduled workday for a holiday...are they required to pay you for that day? On Easter, my department was closed, and we were not allowed to come to work...Is the employer then required to pay the employees for that day?

Not necessarily. My office is staffed with temps and they do not receive holiday pay. When our office is closed for Thanksgiving and the day after, they get screwed and only have a 3 day work week with no paid holiday time. It really depends on the company. Most of the companies I have worked for do not pay holiday pay for easter. Check your employee handbook or ask your HR department. Paid holidays are considered a benefit and not all companies offer them.
