Default prom........?

my date is going to be wearing a red sun dress with a yellow flower design instead of a traditional gown so i was wondering what i should wear to match. i figured a tux would be too formal in comparison. any ideas?i was thinking like a black/charcol possibly pinstriped sportcoat/blazer, yellow shirt (maybe tie) and black pants...but im thinking its too dark....

A sun dress screams out for a summer weight linen suit..or even a gauze type suit. She's obviously going casual...so I'm picturing a white linen with fisherman sandals and no socks, of course.

After Six is a large chain of stores where many folks rent tuxedos for proms and for weddings. They do more than just the basic black tux. Click on the link below to go to their page featuring vests. They have a very wide assortment of vest colors. You might choose to dress like the model pictured on the page with either a red or yellow vest to match your date. Going without a jacket and just the vest may give you the Prom Un-Formal look you seek.Have fun!

You should get a nice red shirt. I suggest going to Abercrombie and getting the Owls Head Trail Shirt in Red under the shirts section. Then you should get a pair of nice khakis. Black shoes are good, too. That way you will look dressed up but not so dressed up you don't match your girlfriend. I hope you have a fun prom night!
